Lee County adopted a Comprehensive Land Use Plan in 2000, and subsequently reviewed and updated the Plan in 2009. The Plan serves as a blueprint for growth and development in the County. It is designed to aid government officials, developers, landowners, and the general public when making decisions regarding growth in Lee County. The primary goal of the Plan is to maintain the agricultural economy in the County by limiting non-agricultural development on prime farmland, and to preserve and enhance the "rural character" and farming lifestyle of the County.
