The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Merit Commission is accepting applications for the position of Corrections Deputy with the Lee County, IL Sheriff's Office.

Salary: $43,475.67

Sworn Personnel: 31

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Lee County Sheriff's Office Merit Commission:

  • U.S. citizenship;
  • Must be of sound character, without criminal convictions;
    • Applicants are not obligated to disclose expunged juvenile records of adjudication or arrest.
  • Minimum of 21 years of age by the application deadline date of September 7, 2018;
  • High school diploma or certificate of equivalency;
  • Valid driver's license;
  • Possess a valid NIPSTA card – OR - equivalent criteria as per the State standard, issued within 12 months of the written exam date (September 26, 2018).  
    • POWER Test Cards issued by NIPSTA, Triton Community College or Joliet Junior College will be accepted.
    • Applicants must present the POWER Test card NO LATER than the written exam date (September 26, 2018).
  • Must be available on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 5:00 PM to participate in a mandatory written examination;
  • Residency Requirement: Within one year of hire date, full-time employees (not assigned a County vehicle for work purposes), shall have the opportunity to reside within Lee County, or within a 15-mile radius of the work location (defined as the Lee County Sheriff's Office: 306 S. Hennepin, Dixon, IL 61021).  Employees are encouraged to live within the borders of Lee County.  Full-time employees issued a County vehicle for work purposes shall live within the boundaries of Lee County;    
  • Pay a $40.00 non-refundable application processing fee.

Submission of Application

  • Applications MUST be submitted online by Friday, September 7, 2018 @ 4:00 PM (CST).  Faxed, e-mailed, mailed or dropped off applications will NOT be accepted. 
  • Applications submitted after the deadline will NOT be accepted. Only one application per person, per testing cycle will be accepted. 
  • Previous Lee County Sheriff’s Office applicants are eligible to re-apply.   

Lateral Transfer Candidates: Current Illinois Certified Corrections Officers with a minimum of two years of service are eligible to be place on a lateral transfer eligibility list. 

  • Lateral transfer candidates are NOT required to obtain the POWER Test Card;
  • Lateral transfer candidates are NOT required to take the written exam; 
  • Lateral transfer candidates ARE required to participate in the Oral/Merit Commission Interview Process.

Documents Required for Application Submission:

  • Copy of valid driver's license; 
  • Copy of birth certificate;
  • Copy of High school diploma or GED equivalent (If unable to provide a diploma, obtain a letter of certification from the school);
  • If applicant has military experience, a copy of Form DD-214 is required.
  • Valid P.O.W.E.R. Test card (issued by NIPSTA, Joliet Junior College, or Triton Community College);
  • Copy of Correctional Officer Certification issued by the State of Illinois (if applicable).

Lee County 911 Center

Lee County, Illinois

 The Lee County, IL Sheriff's Department is accepting applications for the position of Telecommunicator.

Telecommunicator job responsibilities include, but are not limited to answering 9-1-1 telephones, transmitting vital information to emergency personnel via the radio, relaying information via the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, and answering administrative lines serving police, fire, and EMS. 

Salary: $43,475.67 (as of 12/1/2017)

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Lee County Sheriff's Department: 

  • U.S. citizenship;  
  • Minimum of 21 years of age at time of application;
  • Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent;
  • Ability to pass a written examination, a full police background investigation, psychological exam, drug, hearing, and vision screenings;
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, along with overtime that may be mandatory;
  • Schedule flexibility and multi-tasking skills are paramount;
  • Residency Requirement: Within one year of hire date, full-time employees (not assigned a County vehicle for work purposes), shall have the opportunity to reside within Lee County, or within a 15-mile radius of the work location (defined as the Lee County Sheriff's Office: 306 S.
